Albums
Toto’s discography includes 13 studio albums as well as 4 live albums. There are also compilations. In addition to the release of original music, Toto has also done collaborations with other artists as well as on soundtracks for films. Toto has won numerous Grammy Awards.
Before Toto was formed the members of the group performed sessions for other musicians. David Paich, the son of session drummer Marty Paich, and Jeff Porcaro (the brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro and drummer Jeff Porcaro) all performed on Boz Scaggsalbum from 1975 Silk Degrees. The group’s collaboration led to formation of Toto in the year 1976.
The band’s third album, Turn Back, marked a change from the more progressive sound of their previous efforts and was criticized for its lack of hit singles. In 1985 the group’s lead singer Fergie Fredericksen resigned The band held auditions to find a replacement frontman. The band picked guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in the year 1986.
In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by going through several old tapes and demos to release a special album called Toto XX. The album was well-received by fans and Toto began an extensive tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
While touring for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun the drummer Leland Sklar departed from the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included live recordings from the tour and also an interview with the group.
