World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Upgrades to an item are a way to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the upgrade type, it may increase an item’s Mark Level or Rarity, as well as boost other stats.
Each item has a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a specific amount.
Item Level
The value of an item’s base stats increase when it is upgraded. item upgrader is the total of all its leveled up benefits (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrading items can be expensive, depending on the upgrader and what kind of upgrade you decide to make. This is due to the sheer number of perks that need to be modified to upgrade an item.
The level of an item is a widely used measurement of power and can be found on all tooltips of items. It is also used to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear as PvP is restricted at lower levels. Players can view their average item level in their character sheet.
The level of an item will allow players to compare the power of equipment when choosing to buy or sell. It’s an indicator of the item’s condition and quality. Comparing items from the inventory of a vendor can be done by using the item level.
On your PC, you can see the level of the item by pressing ALT or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the full description of the item, including its ilvl. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.
There are several theories about how the item level is determined. One theory states that the item level is calculated by formulas that determine the value of the stats of an item really are. It considers that different advantages are valued differently and that gems in sockets boost the value of the item. This process could result in a calculated amount for the item’s level, which is usually close to Blizzard’s actual level of the item.
However, this isn’t the only factor which determines the ilvl of an item, because the size of the area the item is dropped into can change the value of its stats, such as by adding an additional level to its haste or crit rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have higher ilvl than those from lower-level instances.
Item Stats
The stats of an item are a major part of what determines the value of an item for players. The game uses a variety of them in different ways to encourage players to play with multiple weapons, and also to stop one weapon from being “the best.” The base stats on a weapon are enhanced by the weapon’s stat mods that are in turn enhanced by the player’s level.
Upgrades to an item may increase its stats. The rarity of an item determines the upgrade cost. For example, a grey or white item can only be upgraded once, while an item with the rare tiers can be upgraded many times, at higher costs.
Another method of altering the stats on an item is through affixes. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and are available in all sizes and shapes. The affixes can provide the item extra damage, or add a unique capability to the item (such as reviving the dead or decreasing cooldowns) or make the item unique by adding an additional name to the item.
All affixes can be being re-rolled right now by selecting them in the upgrade menu and pressing the green button. This will cost a specific amount in gold and items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges, just like the other rerolling methods.
In addition to rerolling affixes, players can select which of the available stats to be kept on an item when it is upgraded. The stat ranges are determined by the item’s level. However, all items will have at least one stat in the range, unless they are a unique item or an item that has a God Roll from a boss in a raid.
This is another aspect that can be modified by adding an option to upgrade the equipment without rolling the affixes, or selecting which stats to boost. Similar to the base equipment, it must be done per item and the item comparison interface will not show all possible stats at once.
Item Luck
The Luck stat for a player adds up to increase the chances of finding items and the properties that are spawned from loot drops, and the intensity of the properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It merely gives players the chance to upgrade their gear in earlier waves and is therefore more valuable in the initial game run than in later ones, because most players value higher weapon scaling and defenses over damage gains.
Luck can also increase the chance of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith’s overall upgrade probability which increases with each level of the item and can be further enhanced through the use of an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.
The shields, armor, and weapons have a default Luck value of 40. These items can be augmented with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on the type of material) for a further +40 luck, or to increase the luck of the item to 140.
Moreover some items, like the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow, can be equipped to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by five percent. These items can be purchased in the shop or created using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Not all upgrades work. However, there are cash shop items that allow players to boost their chance of success or stop themselves from losing an item if the upgrade is unsuccessful.
The rate of success of an upgrade can be seen in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of successfully upgrading the item and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The percentage of success can only be increased so high, and the probability that the upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%..
The performance of an upgrades is also influenced by the Luck of that item. Every item has an overall success rate of 25 percent and each item that has Luck increases the chance of success by five percent.
Note that item upgrades are rendered above the inventory items, so enchantment glint and other effects can be masked by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
