The Best Robot Vacuum For Carpet
There’s a robot for any carpet type, whether it’s high-pile or low-pile. These intelligent appliances can navigate through your home, pick up debris and even clean under furniture.
They are equipped with advanced features, such as mapping that helps you navigate around your home and keep track of where furniture is. They also can increase suction power to take on dirtier surfaces.
iRobot Roomba 694
The Roomba 694 from iRobot is a robot vacuum for entry-level use that works well on bare floors and low-pile carpet. It has a good suction and is able to clean all kinds of debris, but it has trouble with larger debris like sand or rice. It is capable of cleaning pet hair but is not as resistant to tangling as the premium Roomba models such as the j7 and I6.
The Roomba 694 is simple to use. It has three buttons on its top cover: ‘Clean’ starts an entire cleaning cycle, ‘Dock’ puts it back into its charging station and ‘Spot Clean’ initiates the targeted cleaning. It can be controlled with an app for smartphones that lets you program or stop/start cycles as well as adjust settings. It can also be paired with smart home devices like Alexa or Google Assistant for voice-controlled operation.
This vacuum is slower than the others, however it’s still able reach most corners and crevices. It has a large dustbin that is ideal for reducing the frequency the frequency you have to empty it. It’s compatible with virtual barriers and digital mapping which let you restrict it to certain areas or even stop cleaning completely when you want to stop it from getting stuck on something.
While it’s not the best model for its price, it’s better than many other alternatives. The Roborock E4 has a better cleaning capability than the Roomba 694, and it is able to clean both low-pile and bare carpets. It also has a longer-lasting battery and a cleaner path. It also feels better-made and has fewer parts that need regular maintenance, is less expensive to maintain over its life and charges faster than the 694.
It’s also worth looking at other, more premium models within the iRobot line, such as the 981 or the v7. They’re more expensive but they offer significant improvements over the 694 in terms of cleaning efficiency on both low and bare floors, follow a more efficient cleaning route and have a larger dirt compartment, are quicker to charge, maneuver themselves more easily, and are much easier to connect with smart home devices.
Shark RV1001AE IQ
This budget self-emptying robot does a decent job on hard floors and carpets with a low pile. link can reach into corners and edges and it automatically increases suction when it detects carpet. It also does an excellent job of cleaning dirt off mid-pile carpet. The IQ has a small footprint and a self-emptying function. If you wish to alter the floor level or set areas that are not allowed to be used, you’ll need to manually reset the map.
The IQ app comes with advanced mapping and automated functions, however it isn’t equipped with no-go zones. These are only available on iRobot robots. Its smart-pathing navigational system gives you greater maneuverability and its high-pile carpet mode cleans well, but it is prone to get caught up in rug tassels, and its iHome speaker allows you to control the robot using voice commands.
During our tests in our tests, the IQ was capable of handling pet hair effectively, clearing huge amounts of hair from bare floors and fair amounts of medium-pile carpet. It was a little less effective on shag carpets where it struggled to reach dirt and dust embedded in the fibers. It did a good job of navigating chair legs and tight spaces as well as the base of a wooden IKEA step stool. It was a little slower on bare flooring, but it recovered speed and did better than other robots that we tested.
The IQ is a better choice for the majority of users than the iRobot Roomba. It has a bigger dust bin and lasts longer on charge, and is more capable of moving itself around obstacles. It has mopping tools that are able to clean up sticky messes. The iRobot on the other hand feels more sturdy, has fewer components that require replacement or maintenance and incurs fewer cost per year, and can create virtual no-go zones using its companion app. It can continue cleaning from the point it started, even if the battery runs out before it finishes. The iRobot can also be controlled with voice commands, which is a big plus for many users.
Eufy 11S
The RoboVac 11S robotic vacuum isn’t one of the most advanced models, but it offers powerful cleaning power at affordable prices. It’s a budget-friendly option for buyers who don’t require a complex mapping system or an app to control the device. This robot can run for a long time and comes with an remote, cleaning tool, AC power adapter, charging base, and additional filters.
The 11S is slim and elegant and has a tempered glass upper deck that appears like brushed aluminum. It’s a nice change from the utilitarian and industrial designs of Roomba, Samsung and Neato.
The eufy11S performed well in our tests at removing larger debris and fine dust from hard flooring. However, it was unable to give medium and high pile carpeting an effective deep clean. The device is also prone to smack into furniture and people in its path, but it’s able to detect obstacles with sensors. It stops and emits a loud noise when it encounters an obstruction. Then, you can manually guide the device around the obstacle and restart it.
Another great feature of the eufy 11S is its BoostIQ mode, which allows you to set the robot to automatically adjust the strength of its suction to match the type of floor and the level of the mess. The remote control makes it simple to direct the 11S to the desired area.
If you don’t have a lot of furniture in the space where you want to vacuum, Single Room Mode is an excellent alternative. The eufy is capable of spending up to 30 minutes cleaning the area it is assigned.
You can also choose Edge Cleaning which restricts the amount of time in each location to 20 minutes to ensure optimal battery life. By selecting this option, the eufy will move in a spiral fashion taking care of edges and corners to ensure a clean.
Miele Complete C1
The Miele Complete C1 canister robot is a top mid-priced vacuum cleaner that performs well on carpet. Its performance on floors that are not bare is also outstanding. It can remove fine debris like rice with ease, and it doesn’t lose suction efficiency even as its dirt bin fills. Its design that is allergy-friendly and sealed with air traps allergens and keeps your family healthy. It comes with an onboard HEPA and self-emptying bin so you don’t need additional filters or vacuum bags.
It’s not as powerful as more expensive models, but it’s still excellent for dealing with staining and deep cleaning. Its two front cameras deliver a live image feed on your smartphone, and it comes with one of the most effective obstacle avoidance systems we’ve seen. It also has a big dustbin, a long runtime, and a fast and smooth clean-up.
In contrast to other robots, unlike most other robots, Complete C1 can switch between the standard powerhead and the turbo head to suit different floor types. The turbo head works best with high-pile or low-pile carpeting, while the standard powerhead is suitable for floors with no flooring and light rug. It also features an automated height adjustment system, which allows it to easily adjust to different kinds of flooring without manual adjustments.
This model comes with the SBD 285-3 Classic Combination Floorhead, which can be used on both carpets with a hard surface and carpets with a medium pile. The powerhead is also easy to move and can reach tough spots. It has five different surface adjustments and an off-brush switch to avoid hairs getting caught in knots.
The Classic C1 has a self cleaning brush roll, the UtraClean Mode that cleans the same area up to three times, and a self-emptying dustbin that you can empty by pressing a button. The volume of noise produced by this model is more pronounced than other models. However, its powerful motor with 1,200 watts of power and durable construction are worth the additional cost.
If you’re willing to pay a little more it’s worth it. Miele Complete C3 is an excellent all-around canister robot vacuum that is more effective on carpet than the Classic C1. It has a better performance on all floors and feels more sturdy and comes with an HEPA filter.
