This cot is more sleek than other models we tested. It’s also ideal for smaller rooms. It comes with a convenient side door that allows you to reach in easily to feed, change nappies or change diapers. Our tester took only 12 minutes to put together the cot.
When choosing a cot bed, look for ones that are safe. All cots must have bars that are no more than 6.5cm apart to ensure that your baby’s limbs cannot become trapped. Make sure that the slats of your cot are securely fastened to prevent any loose or rusty fittings.
A good quality mattress for a cot is also essential to ensure your baby’s comfort. Select mattresses made of latex-coated coir or pocket springs, which offer the best support and do not sag. It is worthwhile to invest in a waterproof cover, too, as any soiling will get into the mattress and cause your baby to sweat or be uncomfortable.
Some cots have additional bonuses such as adjustable inclines to ease reflux, and storage for the nappy essentials (such as the Mamas&Papas Lua Bedside Cot). These are a great addition, but remember to only buy additional items that are safe and are suitable for your baby.
