A custom suit can be an excellent option when planning your outfit and the clothes you will wear to special events. Many times purchasing off the rack works but there are times when it isn’t. Here are five reasons my clients prefer buying a customized suit instead of the off-the-rack option.
1. The Fit
The body of every woman and man and proportions are different. They also like clothing to fit differently. It’s not always easy to find the right shape or feel for an off-the-rack outfit. You can certainly modify the suit, but the suit doesn’t feel right. It isn’t always possible to adjust the chest, cross back, armhole and shoulder. When having a custom & bespoke suits made, the concerns about fit are taken into account and the jacket and pant is constructed from the start to address these issues of fit.
2. The quality
I have a relationship with top mills to make custom garments for my clients. There are super 110’s that contain 100% wool, others are super 170’s wool cashmere mix and everything in between. Custom Suits NYC for hundreds of years. When buying off the rack there is no guarantee of the quality of the fabric and the source of the fabric. Also, how to take care of it and whether it’s suitable to be used in the suit. When I ask my customers what their favorite purple suit color is, and considering the shape of their bodies, I help them choose the right fabric and quality that will meet their requirements. I also assist them in learning about the best ways to take care of their suit. Many of the suits available are fused , meaning that the front panel has glue giving it its shape vs canvas. Canvas is the material I use to make my suits. Canvas is more durable than glue, and it is much more robust. The glue that is fusing may be a bit sloppy and break after many cleanings. You’ve probably seen this on your off-the-rack suits. It’s not happening to canvas or the suits I create.
3. Picking the right pattern and creating the garmen
If you purchase a custom suit, you get to select the fabric, fitting, and the rest of the particulars. This includes:
Pockets
Lapels
Lining
Buttons
Vents
Shoulder Pad
Pick Stitching
Thread colors and more
This might seem daunting; but I’ll guide you through each step and step. You may decide to make it easy by choosing specific details however, you cannot choose all of them. The brand or designer will choose the particulars of your style when you purchase it off the shelf. This is fine for simple colours and solids. If you need something more patterned or in a specific color or a particular shade of blue, it might not be an issue. Send me a picture of the look you’d like and I’ll make it for you.
4. It’s easy and efficient, saving time.
When you create an individual suit with me, I save the measurements and other details in a the file. The next time you need a suit or jacket I will make the suit work and you don’t have to even come into the shop. Many clients pick 2-4 colors they like at the time of their initial visit. I save these fabrics on file so when they need their next outfit I can tell them what blue check or grey material they’re looking at. You don’t need to bring them into the shop to obtain all the details. I’ll send them photos of buttons and linings for customers to choose from. It’s a great way to show my client’s wives, partners, and girlfriends that they have the option of shopping for me.
5. It’s fun
Women and men love creating and wearing customized suits as it’s special to them and enjoyable! It’s personal and unique and no one else can own it. Personalizing your clothing is a great way for you to express yourself. Everything from the color to how it fits to the interior. You feel great wearing clothing that is made especially for you. You’re happy to wear it and stand taller when you wear clothes at which you are. Do it. It’s FUN! I promise.
