The Best Robot Vacuum That Mops
Noah Pinsonnault is a product review analyst for the Home Care and Cleaning Lab at Good Housekeeping.
He conducts tests and reviews of cleaning appliances. His focus is on mopping robots and vacuum combinations. Multitaskers are a great option for those who wish to take mopping off their to-do list. They have impressive mapping and obstacle avoidance capabilities, and they can even wash and refill their own mopping pads to give themselves a hands-off clean.
The Eufy S1 Pro
This is the model to select if you’re looking for an automatic vacuum cleaner that can also mop. It’s smaller than other options, making it easier to maneuver in tight corners or under furniture. It features a 220-degree Lidar which, when combined with the 3D Matrix Camera System, offers one of my top navigation and object avoidance features I’ve seen in a robotic vacuum. It comes with a massive 4600mAh battery that lasts for up to 170-minutes when mopping and suction are set to standard mode (it can run longer in turbo). It will even return to its dock to recharge its battery during the cleaning.
It’s efficient and does an outstanding job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It is able to vacuum carpeted rooms quickly and hardwood floors in the living room, kitchen, and hallways with just one pass. Its 8,000pa suction motor makes short work of picking up dirt, crumbs and pet hair. Carpet detection automatically boosts power when it detects carpets and the dual side brush assists in removing debris from corners.
The mopping performance is a little less impressive, though not by a lot. The mop’s rotating mechanism spins fast and makes use of 2.2lbs to remove dirt and stain. I’ve noticed that the front arms stick out a bit more than other robots, which is useful to get into tight corners and on baseboards. The same front arms can be employed to clean larger pieces of debris, such as broken toys and fallen books.
Another nice feature is that the S1 Pro is one of the quietest robot vacuums and mop I’ve ever tried. It is quieter and doesn’t produce as much noise when vacuuming or mopping. The S1 Pro is only limited by the fact that it has to use a proprietary mopping solution and is sold separately. It’s simple to install and performs well however, it’s something you’ll have to keep an eye on when you purchase this vacuum for the sole reason of mopping.
The Roborock Q Revo
The Q Revo stands apart from the majority of robot vacuums which mops in its class. It comes with a wide array of features that make it an ideal choice for homeowners who want a highly effective, versatile, and customizable cleaning machine.
The device comes with a powerful and impressive cleaning system that combines LiDAR sensors and an RGB camera to map the home and identify furniture and other obstacles. It then uses this information to clean methodically and intelligently. This ensures a thorough and consistent clean, while also being relatively rapid.
The Q Revo DuoRoller mop pad can reach many surfaces. This includes corners or baseboards, as well as other difficult-to-access spots. The side brush can be stretched to extend to the floor, close to the walls or other fixtures. Additionally, the mop pads can be dried and washed to prevent the build-up of dust and reduce the smell.
App-based customization is yet another noteworthy feature. The Q Revo allows you to adjust the intensity of its suction and choose between a back-and-forth or slightly more random patterns. You can also alter the number of passes it must make, which will determine how quickly the device can traverse your home. You can also choose to turn off the side brush to prevent damaging rugs and carpets.
This device is expensive but has many smart features. It is important to remember that the device will incur periodic costs in the form of mopping supplies as well as regular maintenance. For example the brushroll should be replaced every six to twelve months or after 300 hours. The filter is recommended to be cleaned after 150 hrs, and the mop pads must be changed every one to three months.
This robotic vacuum cleaner is a top Amazon rating and includes an array of physical automation features. These include the power button that can also function as a general ‘Clean’ button and a ‘Home button that sends it back to its base station after finishing its cleaning task. It also comes with a multi-functional dock that automatically empties the trash bin and refills its water tank to mop and washes and dries its mop pads.
The Shark Matrix Plus
The Shark Matrix Plus will be a good option for busy professionals or anyone looking to keep their home neat without spending too much time doing chores. Its powerful performance, smart navigation and long battery life make it easy to keep a clean home with little effort.
The Matrix Plus is a 2-in-1 robot vacuum and mop which means it is able to handle mopping and vacuuming. The robot is divided into two components which include a dry bin and water tank that can be snapped out and in and a mopping module which has an elastomer pad. Separate modules for mopping and vacuuming may seem a bit old-fashioned, but they do mean you don’t have to worry about changing bags for disposables or refilling the water tank.
Our testers found that the Matrix Plus did a great job of vacuuming as well as mopping. Its best feature was its precise map of your floorplan which it uses to draw a route when cleaning. It was easy for the Matrix Plus to navigate around furniture, rugs and other obstacles. The app allows you to create ‘No-Go Zones’ and virtual barriers that prevent certain areas from being cleaned by mop.
The Matrix Plus also did a surprising job of picking up hair from pets. It was able to capture the majority of hair that shed by our cats and even found its way into the nooks and crannys of our stairs while other robots struggled. robot vacuum cleaner cheap was relatively silent and also had a few nice jingles that let you know when it was beginning or finishing its work.
The app was too basic and you had to alter the modules each time you switched between vacuuming and mops. The app cannot save multiple maps. This could be an issue if your home has a variety of floors. The Matrix Plus robot is a great choice for those who want a device that can mop and vacuum.
The Yiko X1 Omni
The X1 Omni is the most expensive robot vacuum that can be found in our review, however it also has unique features that are worth taking into consideration. The X1 Omni’s main draw is its enormous dock which doubles as a charging base as well as housing for two 4-liter water tanks, a clean sink as well as an automatic 2.5-liter dust bin that automatically empties.
The base has several control buttons that let you manually start cleaning tasks, recall the robot or run the dock’s automatic emptying procedure. Press two of the buttons to switch on the child lock, which is a nice touch for parents worried about their children playing with the vacuum.
The Omni Omni, like other robotic vacuums uses its camera to identify furniture and obstacles in its path. It will avoid them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.
The X1 can be prone to become stuck if it gets caught in an obstacle, such as a power cable tangled over a rug. It will not work until you manually untangle it. While it was not common but it was a very frustrating experience when it did happen particularly since the X1 Omni does not have an “stuck” status alert in its app.
The X1 Omni cannot automatically switch from mopping to vacuuming mode during a cleaning session. You will need to manually swap between the two, which isn’t too bad except for the fact that the mopping pads haven’t been cleaned and dried between uses which could lead to mildew or mold.
The X1 Omni looks great, thanks to the Jacob Jensen design team (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who designed the sleek modern base and mopping pad. It’s a significant contrast to the basic black bases of rivals like Roborock or iRobot. It’s also a welcome sight for a market dominated by clunky boxes.
