WoW Upgrades – The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.
The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like the eth Titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in all major cities and can be visited at any time to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader once every few weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.
Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item, but they will always be cheaper than buying new gear. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are functional items that can be used to level up weapons and tools, armor and other accessories. Players can purchase them through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners in a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any tool, weapon or armor. button, which will show a preview of the item when it is upgraded when the player has enough materials.
The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item and current item level and the weapon’s price is higher than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.
Many locations have upgraders for their items, including the main Island and a few outposts. upgrade item offer both an upgrade discount and a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrading increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or complete quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur’s gate II. Instead the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades require several methods, which is both an improvement but also a drawback.
In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. After a player has upgraded to a certain level of item for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This applies even if the items come from an entirely different set of gear.
The discount is applicable to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is reduced too, but it is only available after certain milestones have been reached.
Crests
Players have a variety of choices when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. They can make use of Flightstones that are a general upgrade currency that is available to all players, or crests, which are more specialized and consumed during upgrades at specific levels of the item. Crests are an important component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that crests are only available for equipment of a certain rank. Each rank has distinct upgrade paths. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade requires up to 20 crests, depending on the type or equipment that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through completing content of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of any difficulty for higher-tier items or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for endgame gear. These crests can be exchanged with an item upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and pathways.
The new currency system isn’t complicated to use, but it does bring some changes to the upgrade process. When a piece reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it no longer requires Flightstones. This is to allow players to get their gear up to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
Another notable change is that crests have one use, so it’s important to make use of them in a responsible manner. It is best to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment you can locate, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is particularly relevant for trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character that will be able to avail the discount for all accounts when all slots are filled with top-quality equipment.
